EEMN443 - Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Credits: 3
The purpose of this elective is to produce introductory skills in using 3D computer aided design (CAD) software and knowledge of 3D printing (additive manufacturing). Autodesk Inventor (or similar) software will be used extensively to make 2D drawings, 3D parts, and 3D assemblies. Stress simulation and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) will be investigated. Lectures will also include additive manufacturing processes and their applications. A semester long project will be incorporated into the term where students will design their own parts/assemblies, fabricate them using 3D printers, assemble and test their designs, and produce related technical drawings based on industry standards
Prerequisites: ECMT 100 , ECES 300
