HIST280 - Pirates in World History Credits: 3
Piracy has plagued humankind throughout the ages, and has persisted into the twenty-first century. In this course, piracy will be examined in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and East Asia, from classical times to the twenty-first century. Using a comparative and topical approach, this course will examine the root causes of piracy, their tactics, the methods used to suppress piracy, and modern policy issues regarding piracy. This course is designed to bolster deep reading skills, develop an understanding of foreign cultures, and to foster creative multimedia presentations. This is an elective course.
Prerequisites: None 3 class hours a week
