NSEA230 - Navigation I Credits: 1
The objective of this sea course is for the Midshipman to acquire the navigational skills and techniques required to properly perform the duties of a licensed deck officer. This is to be achieved by the shipboard practice and computations learned from in-residence courses in terrestrial navigation and composing essays on STCW watchkeeping principles and commonly utilized navigation publications. These training activities will prepare the Midshipman for 2nd sailing and the capstone navigation classes in First Class Year and ultimately the USCG Third Mate’s Exam.
